Understanding places and atmospheres as part of City As A Spaceship (CAAS)

We come together as City As A Spaceship (CAAS) for brief periods of intense critical discussion and creativity. Past residencies saw the generation of substantial amounts of raw observations, images, individual notes, and concurrent discussions of the work and its’ relevance to our practice.
On this residency, we were interested in understanding the SPACEHOUSE and its technologies, its environment, its surrounding, the place, the people, and the biosphere, and finding a way of connecting topics to our CAAS paradigm of self-sustainability and ecologies. This time, we chose to apply AI tools to generate outcomes and visual provocations, from both past and current raw content, in place, in person, and in real time.
Overall, the unpredictability of working with AI was a key factor, and the results were sometimes surprising, occasionally frustrating, but always ‘original’.
